George Chakiris, "No matter how dark the moment, love and hope are always possible."
It's Friday night in Winslow and what am I doing???
I'm not outside, that's for sure.... When is this snow going to end?? You probably think everything is fine because you live in a city and the roads have been cleared. Not Winslow! At least not where I am! I guess it's the price you pay for paradise, but I kid you not I can barely get down my own driveway and if I did I'd just get stuck somewhere along the way on the dirt road, long before I see a paved road.
It's no big deal for us, when we know bad weather is coming we make sure we're all stocked up on the necessities, and it can be fun being snowed in, but when the power goes out and it's this cold, you kinda get the feeling that you're screwed!
That's right, the power went out tonight!! We're survivors, so again, this isn't a big deal but in this weather your house can get awful cold, awful fast when there is no power to run the heater!!
So, what do you do in Winslow when you lose power in middle of a snow storm? Can anyone say break out the wine?? No seriously, the power went out a bit before it got dark so we broke out the candles and flashlights and our handy emergency radio and we read books until we lost the light...Then, we got out the wine and put some music on. Then it got colder so we grabbed some throw blankets. We were suppose to be making a yummy homemade pizza for dinner but we got hungry holding out for the power to come back on so we whipped up some turkey sandwiches and potato chips, pretty fancy meal to along with our box of chardonnay wine, wouldn't you say?
We were just finishing up our dinner and Damon looked out the window because he saw something and I asked what was the matter and he said "Oh I just caught something out of the corner of my eye" and I laughed at him and said, "the Christmas lights freaked you out?". Almost simultaneous, we looked at each other and said, "the Christmas lights on the porch are on!! The power is back on!!" It may be one of those thing you had to be there for, but it was pretty hilarious that it took us a minute to understand that if the lights on the porch had come on, then the power was back on... The power went out during the day so we didn't have any lights on in the house and we were just going to keep sitting there in the dark, had we not seen those darned Christmas lights! LOL!
And yes, I finally turned the Christmas light timer off since it is February but I am glad they were on tonight!
Happy Friday!
