Oscar Wilde: "All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That is his."
So like I said last week, we've been super busy with birthdays, anniversaries and other trips and decided to take last weekend down a notch. We did get in a few of our Best Picture Oscar winning movies, this week we watched Gandhi (1982) which was really surprising to me. It was a good movie and I believe relatively factual but it did change how I think about Gandhi. It seems to me that Gandhi didn't really do much, except try to start stuff... Don't get me wrong, I appreciate and applaud him for teaching nonviolence but I don't know what he really did. Next up, we watched Terms of Endearment (1983) which was pretty good. You have to love crazy pants Jack Nicholson because he's a nut bag and Shirley MacLaine. I don't get Debra Winger but whatever, it was still a pretty good movie!
Anyway, enough of that, it's Mother's Day! We took mom out to Golden Corral for lunch. I think we typically go out on Saturday to avoid crowds but we went on Sunday and it was crazy busy there. We we're able to get seats and enjoy our meal after a short wait and it all worked out fine.
Afterwards, Damon, my sister, and I took mom out to Cherokee Casino, we all gave her cash and let her gamble. None of us did too good but we still had a good time and we got to spend time with mom so that's all that matters!
Happy Mother's Day to all of the amazing mothers out there, you deserve the best day ever and I hope you get it!
