Ayn Rand, "Reason is not automatic.  Those who deny it, cannot be conquered by it"

This evening I put on the third graduation for the program I manage at work.  It's a program for high school aged students and they intern for a year at a hospital and the goal is to get them meaningful employment by the end of the year.  This year I had ten interns, tonight was graduation and seven of them already have jobs!!

Anyway, once that was done and over with we were pretty exhausted so we came home, had a glass of wine and just relaxed for a bit.  Our new TV show marathon is Criminal Minds (it's so addictive, if you don't watch it, you should!) and tonight we're going to wrap up season two!

Take time to relax!

Alan Lightman said, "The tragedy of this world is that no one is happy, whether stuck in a time of pain or of joy."

Welcome to another wonderful Friday Night in Winslow!

A friend of ours is getting married next month and she's asked me to make candles for her wedding party.  We're doing seven different scents so I'm going to have to get started on it early!

First we glue the wicks to the bottom of the glass jars.....

Then we bring the wax up to 180 degrees in a double boiler, and add the color and scent.....

Then we allow the wax to cool to 120 degrees and we pour........

Last, we let it dry..... What a pretty color!

Next, it's time to put together flower arrangements for our mom's. It's Mother's Day this weekend, don't forget all the wonderful mothers in your life!

Always make time to do the things that make you happy, not just the every day things we have to do!

Ludwig Van Beethoven, "What you are, you are by accident of birth;  what I am, I am by myself. There are and always will be a thousand princes; there is only one Beethoven."

I am officially 32 years old.... It happened Tuesday, April 29th.  I'm extremely blessed to have already had a birthday party with Damon's family (when we went down to celebrate his family birthdays in February).  My family gave us another birthday (just last weekend we went to Tulsa), mom took us out to lunch at Cheddars, which was awesome and oh so much food!  Then we had cake and presents at Mom's house....

Damon's parents also took us out for lunch as an extra gift when we were in town so we/I (we try to combine birthdays on both sides to reduce our travel, work around everyone's busy schedules, and hey, just save money) had a great birthday long before my actual birthday.

Add to this awesomeness that some friends from Tulsa sent me some nice cards and gifts as well as my co-workers, I can only say I am truly blessed!!  I also had an amazing FREE breakfast from IHOP on my birthday.....

A breakfast fit for a queen and it was free, that's right, just sign up to get emails from IHOP and you get a free meal and then another free meal every year on your birthday.  I also have a free burger coming to me from Ruby Tuesday and Red Robin, it's a little extra junk mail in your inbox but it's free food ya'll!

But, Damon isn't finished with my birthday just yet.  Those of you who knew us when we first started dating know that we always took a trip or did something above and beyond the typical "take you out to dinner" or "here's a gift as a token of my love" type of celebration.  We always took some kind of trip or did something not so "everyday".  We quickly realized we were trying to out-do each other and ourselves so we put a cap on what we could do, not to mention the fact that we felt like we were running out of ideas.  Anyway, nowadays, we try to be explorers (since we are new to northwest Arkansas) but also be creative and we love to tease each other with "hints".  This is Damon's idea of a hint for what we are going to do on my birthday weekend.....

You probably can't see this very well but I gave Damon a crossword puzzle (that I made through an online website) to give him hints about what we would be doing for his birthday this year.  In return, Damon gives me this and the only hints are the number of letters and the number of words........Really?????   Do you know how many four letter words I can think of right now.......BUT, I'm really amazed that Damon took the time to fill in all those letters in an excel spreadsheet on his own versus using a website like I did!  Anyway, it's awesome, Damon just likes to find ways to give me birthday or Christmas hints that are so much more difficult for me than they have to be, but I love him anyway!  It was fun, even though I was a little frustrated, I got to drink Redd's Strawberry Ale while I was doing it and that didn't hurt things....
Anyway, I'm rambling..... After what seemed like days of figuring out my hints from Damon's homemade crossword puzzle, it appears that I will be eating pizza for dinner tonight, French toast and mimosas for breakfast tomorrow, and mac and cheese and buffalo wings at some point throughout the weekend!  On top of that, Damon's giving me a girly movie day which doesn't come very often.  We will be spending all day Sunday watching a Anne of Green Gables marathon!  And before you chuckle at that, get over yourself!!  The movie is a little "after school special" but its also a very innocent and cute and sometimes, living in the world we live in, I think you need that!
Also, based on the hints from Damon's crossword, it looks like we're going to Rogers tomorrow for some miniature golf, which I kid you not, I don't think I've ever done!! We're also going to catch a movie, I chose Non-stop because Liam Neeson is such a badass, and if you're going to pay so much money to go to the movies, you better see one that will be worth it and action flicks are probably the best because seeing that on a little screen doesn't do those types of movies much justice!  After that, we're going to LongHorn Steakhouse for a nice big juicy steak for dinner!  Happy Birthday to me!!

Enjoy your life, every day life!
