Thomas Merton wrote, "We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone.  We find it with another."

Tonight we're just figuring out last minute wedding details. We're getting close to the day and even though it's such a small ceremony, there are quite a few things to do.

I've already got my dress and accessories ,though I still haven't found a pair of shoes!  Damon's renting a tux and that's all settled. We've picked a chapel, photographer, and hotel, which in a small wedding are the big things to worry about, so we're not turning into bride and groomzillas by any means.

We're just hanging out, watching some TV and chatting about some of the little things we have yet to finalize, like a schedule, finalizing what family members can make it and which can't, deciding the things we're going to do and where we want to eat on our honeymoon, just stuff like that.

What do you expect, it's a Friday night in Winslow???

Just over two weeks to go!!

John Morley, "Nature, in her most dazzling aspects or stupendous parts, is but the background and theater of the tragedy of man."

Tonight, we're just hanging out, drinking some wine and getting ready to make some dinner.  We got to talking about the weather and how crazy it's been and decided to look at some pictures I we'd taken earlier this week. We had some snow (again) and I took these photos out of our bedroom window.

We call being snowed in for a week almost every time it snows, the forty minute drive to work, twenty-five minutes to the nearest fast food restaurant, shitty internet speeds, and dirt roads, the price we pay for paradise.  Looking out your window throughout the day and getting to see packs of deer wandering around is amazing.  Not just the deer, we often find ourselves watching the birds, the neighbors little beagle who looks like he's on the adventure of his life every time he runs around in the woods behind our house, even the squirrels!  It all makes you take a step back and realize how beautiful nature is and how lucky we are.  Too often, we get so busy and caught up in work and life that we don't stop to "smell the roses" and actually enjoy life.  Appreciate the little things, they can be the things that make the biggest difference!

Take a step back and take it all in!

Oliver Wendell Holmes, "Where we love is home, home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts."

It's another Friday night in Winslow and it's also Damon's birthday weekend!!  I had grand plans of camping out tonight (you may think that not too grand, but we have all this beautiful land and never get to enjoy it and we love camping) but the weather didn't cooperate with my planning.  The forecast is calling for a low of 31 degrees tonight and it rained this morning and camping in the wet and cold can suck.

So, I let my imagination take control of the situation.  I decided that we would still camp, just in a more unconventional way - I pitched the tent in the living room!! Lol!

What kind of birthday is that, you say?  And I would say to that, stop being such a grown up that you can't be goofy and have a little fun sometimes!  Surely, you used to make forts out of blankets and furniture when you were a kid and you probably had a blast doing it!  At least I actually got out a real tent for him!  Lol!

Seriously, it was fun turning out all the lights in the house, breaking out the lanterns, playing the radio, and just hanging out in the tent playing cards, but this isn't all I have planned for Damon's birthday.  I have the entire rest of the weekend planned out for him and we're gonna have a lot of fun!

Happy Birthday to my one and only!

Francoise Sagan, "I have loved to the point of madness; that which is called madness, That which to me, is the only sensible way to love."

It's Friday night in Fort Smith!!

That's right, we're celebrating Valentine's day and decided to head over to Fort Smith and celebrate.

We started out with trying out The Movie Lounge. We went to see the new Hunger Games movie and I have to admit, I wasn't that impressed.  It seemed a lot slower than the first one and not as good, but don't stone me if your a fan, it's just my opinion.

The Movie Lounge itself was pretty cool, great idea but maybe not so well planned out.  Because they have bigger seats and need to allow space for servers to get in and out, there is limited seating; we ended up tucked into a corner which I thought was going to be horrible but we could actually see the screen pretty well and we were plenty comfortable.  I thought there would be tables in front of the seats in order to have dinner but instead there was just a little "table" that extended from the arm of the chair for you to put your food on.  Didn't matter, we didn't have dinner there but it was cool to order a beer and watch a movie!

We had dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse which was a disaster, I guess they were short-handed or something but there were a lot of pissed off diners there that night. After that, we headed back to the hotel in Van Buren (you can see my review here), had some wine, watched some TV and well the rest is none of your business..... Lol!

During our trip, we also got to try some local fair, Ed Walker's Drive In (you can see my review here) and Larry's Pizza (you can see my review here).  I haven't updated my profile in awhile so it's TulsaTourist.  Those of you that don't bother to write reviews, you totally should.  Write the good and the bad, it helps prevent other people from having a horrible time or could cause them to have the best experience ever.

Overall, we had a great trip.  I'm just blessed to have someone like Damon to share these experiences (the good and the bad) with!

Happy Valentine's Day, again!

Friday, February 14th, 2014 - Valentine's Day

William Shakespeare wrote, "Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none."

It's Friday night in Winslow and it's Valentine's Day.  You'd think we had some great big plans to paint the town.....

Not so much, because we are going to visit our families in Tulsa tomorrow, we decided we would do our Valentine's celebrating next weekend.

So, when I got off work I stopped by Domino's to pick up a couple of pizzas and headed home.  We're still on our X-Files marathon (no girly movies here) so we figured we would keep on trucking.  We're finally on season 7 and I have to admit the earlier seasons were much better but it seems most shows are like that.  I've seen the entire series but Damon hasn't.  He never watched the show because they went sideways with the "creatures" and "monsters", sure you could call just about anything weird or unexplained an "X-File" but people really just wanted to see the alien and UFO stuff.

So, we're doing just that.  We're are reading the plot for each episode and if it's alien related or even if it sounds remotely interesting, we watch those episodes and skip all the random shit they do.  Some shows you can't really do that with because they all link together somehow, fortunately, X-Files isn't really like that and we have yet to find ourselves starting an episode and saying "WTF, what's going on?"

Anyway, not the most romantic Valentine's day ever but we'll do that next week!

Happy Valentine's Day!
