Washington Irving, "There is a sacredness in tears.  They are not the mark of weakness but of power."

It's Friday night in Winslow and what am I doing???

Not a damn thing..... Something's been going around at work and it finally caught up with me.  ICK!!!!

Anyway, this lovely Friday night I have a date with the couch and a bottle of NyQuil!!  Don't worry about me though, I have Damon to nurse me back to health (AKA wait on me hand and foot while I act like a big baby cause I feel like pooh)!

Nighty night Winslownians!

Taoist philosopher Lao-tze once wrote, "He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still."

It's another Friday night in Winslow, yo!

Nothing exciting going on tonight, we're just finishing up our marathon of the old TV series, The Shield.  Damon wanted to watch it and I was skeptical but after a few episodes, I was hooked!

We're on the 6th season now (they only had 7) and if you have ever seen the show, you know that Vic (Michael Chiklas) is pretty much a bad ass, but him and his team find themselves in trouble with IAD (Internal Affairs Department).

Now, I usually like Forest Whitaker as an actor but I hate him in this, not because he's a horrible actor, I just hate who he's playing (the crazy IAD copper that's trying to take down Vic)!  Anyway, it's a good show and I think we might stay on a role with Michael Chiklas and watch The Commish (Another good Chiklas show) once we finish up The Shield.

What, you think there should be more???

This is Winslow, other than the occasional goat or cow in the road, neighbors firing off what sounds like a canon, and stray dogs in your yard, I don't know what else there is?

Happy Friday Night, wherever you are!!

Playwright, Eugene Lonesco said, "Dreams and anguish bring us together."

Another Friday Night in Slowtown and what do we find ourselves doing for our entertainment???

Well, first we had to watch this because it is absolutely hilarious!!!

Okay, if you are not cracking the f up right now, there's something wrong with you!!!

So, back to work!!

We are attempting to make our own pasta tonight!!  My lovely family got me a pasta roller for Christmas and this is our first time trying it out.  Here are the first few stages, 2 cups of all purpose flour, and three large eggs is suppose to make us about a pound of pasta.  We're trying a food processor way of kneading the ingredients together, then just a few minutes of kneading by hand on the counter.

Next, cover the pasta dough and let rest for about 15 minutes, covered in plastic wrap...............

Then you cut the dough into about six sections and work them one at a time.  You roll them through the roller and then through the cutter (using the appropriate attachment for whichever type of pasta you're shooting for).

Then voila....... You have fettuccine ..(we chose the fettuccine cutting blades this go around)!

Cook your pasta in some boiling salt water and in a skillet, saute some green bell pepper, red onion, and jalapeno.  Add some garlic and fresh basil, salt and pepper to taste, then add some olive oil and you have a super healthy sauce for your fettuccine!

Topped with a little Parmesan cheese and here is our final product......

Yummy, healthy, and homemade!!!

Happy Friday Night in Winslow!!

Painter, William Dobell said, "A Sincere artist tries to create something which is, within itself, a living thing."

Another fabulous Friday Night in Winslow ladies and gents!!

Okay, so you know by now that we pretty much entertain ourselves out here so it shouldn't be a shock to you that we're making our own cheese tonight!!

That's right!! I got Damon a Mozzarella cheese making kit for Christmas and we're trying it out tonight!  You might not think so, but it can be a lot of fun making your own stuff, we've done bread, candles, sauces, and a lot more and it's a lot of fun!  We did try our own chocolate for Christmas but it didn't work out so well....

Those poor bastards look like they just fought a war!!! So, we'll have to try that again some other Friday!!

Anyway, here's some pics of the cheese making process.....

Unfortunately, we did something wrong, I think we ended up with ricotta instead of Mozzarella, oh well... We'll do better next time!

Now we're off to make a yummy salad, iceberg and romaine lettuce, spinach, roma tomato, cucumber, and red onion......yummy!  Look at us trying to get back our girlish figures after the holidays!!

Happy Friday Night in Winslow!!

New Years Eve, 2013

2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come."

So, we live in Winslow and obviously, there are no clubs, bars, or trendy hangouts here, so what is there to do on New Years in these parts?  Well, we could have gone to Fayetteville to hit a few bars or have some dinner, but driving 30 minutes home after even just a couple of drinks on New Years Eve, well between the drunks on the roads, and the hyper-vigilant cops, it's just stupid.

We opted to stay in and make our own party!  That's right, we got all gussied-up and decided to have some fun at home!

Planning ahead, we had some assorted junk foods in the freezer; plus some chips and rotel, summer sausage, a variety of cheeses, along with some crackers, frozen egg rolls, a frozen pizza, and all the candy and sweets you could ever ask for, thanks to our fully loaded stockings for Christmas.

We didn't actually eat very much of any of that. We had a 12 pack of Bud Light that started our evening off, and I don't know about you but after drinking beer, you don't really feel like eating or drinking much else.  So we nibbled on bad food, drank a few beers, and when that ran out, we moved on to a lovely box of wine (no really, it might sound cheap but Chillable Red by Franzia is pretty awesome!), and for entertainment, we decided to play board games!

To be fair, I lost my mojo earlier in the evening and Damon kicked my ass a time or two at Chess, and a couple games of the old board game of Sorry, but I quickly got my mojo back and proceeded to kick his ass at a couple of the subsequent games of Sorry, but to round things out, I wore his ass out proper on the Lord of the Rings Monopoly!

After we wrapped up our games, it was perfect timing to watch the Times Square ball drop on T.V.  It dropped, we kissed, we toasted champagne, we made our resolutions for 2014, and got tired and went to bed!

Hey, at least we made it to the New Year before turning in!!

Here's to a blessed year for us all!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!
